The Shwedagon Pagoda after a Monsoon shower.

2 Min.No other country has smuggled itself into my soul more persistently than Burma. I wandered through towns, caves, fields and monasteries, hiked to remote hill tribes and documented novice ceremonies, weddings and cremations. The greatest discoveries were the people of Burma, their touching tolerance and warm-heartedness. With TIMELESS BURMA, I want to make the photographs appear timeless as well as these timeless values. It is my final declaration of love to the country and its people.

The Dhammayazika Pagoda in a bamboo scaffolding. Every few years the leaf gilding will be refreshed. One does not use gold paint but traditional gold leafs with a size of 1 inch. Thousands and thousands of them are put on the pagoda - one after each other. A task requiring month and of lots of forbearance from the workers.

Among the Akhu tribe, which seperated from the well-known Akha tribe centuries ago, only the women smoke. This Akhu lady is slightly getting dizzy while enjoying her self-made tobacco mix.
